Alnwick

Northumbria Police requested Mountain Rescue’s support for a water based search in and around the Lion Bridge in Alnwick. A limited number of Team members were deployed from the Gateshead incident straight to Alnwick to assist with the search.

Two search dog teams were deployed ahead of our water team to search downstream on river right and left to the Denwick bridge, below the impressive Alnwick Castle. The water team comprising Swiftwater Rescue Technicians and Flood & Swiftwater First Responders then conducted a more detailed search around Lion Bridge and a strainer and the weir downstream of the bridge.

Whilst nothing was found, our efforts enabled the Police to draw to a close their investigation.

The incident involved 8 Team members for 5 hours 45 minutes.
