We’re incredibly pleased to announce that one of our volunteers, Dr. Frances Naylor has been presented with a top Citizens in Policing award from Northumbria Police.
The Citizens in Policing awards recognised the outstanding contributions made by selfless volunteers, while serving their many communities.
Frances was one of 11 volunteers who received awards from the Chief Constable Winton Keenen QPM at a special ceremony at the Sage earlier this week.
Frances received the award for Contribution to Wellbeing for her work as part of Northumberland National Park Mountain Mountain Rescue Team.
Frances is the team’s welfare officer and as part of her role, she is responsible for supporting the mental health and wellbeing of members, particularly after they have been involved in traumatic incidents. She is also involved in the national MREW wellbeing group.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic Frances has supported our volunteers and she was instrumental in members receiving their vaccinations.
Frances fulfils this vitally important role on voluntary basis alongside her incredibly busy career as a general practitioner. Whilst not an operational member, Frances regularly attends team training to better understand what members experience and to build trust with team members.
Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner Kim McGuinness said: “The fantastic, and generous, people are what makes this region so special, and that was suitably reflected last night.
“My thanks go to all winners, nominees and those who give their time to support the Force in any capacity, ensuring Northumbria remains a place we can all be proud of.”
